We are proud to announce our 2019 Numis internship recruitment programme where we have committed to take on 13 interns, following a very successful roll out of our first ever formal internship programme at Numis in 2018. We recognise that people are our firm’s main asset and, as such, are to be nurtured, mentored and invested in. 

"Within the UK market, the brand name is really strong so you don't need to explain to people what Numis does. A role at Numis provides you with the best opportunity to interact with many different types of institutional and wealth management clients. Alongside internally speaking to sales, sales-traders or research analysts, all of whom I work with closely. The job can be quite demanding given the early starts and fast paced nature, however, I typically leave the office around 5.00pm meaning there is plenty of time to go to the gym, socialise with friends, and fulfill commitments to socialise with clients".

Our interns will receive extensive training from our internal experts and have the opportunity to develop their technical and soft skills through our external training partners. Our meritocratic culture means that interns can add value and achieve great things quickly at the firm.

Gemma Cook, our Head of Human Resources who joined from Goldman Sachs also added the following perspective: 

2018 was an extraordinary year having our very first formal internship program available hiring 16 interns into the firm for an 8 week program.  Our interns had first hand opportunities to work on insightful projects, experience other departments and integrate themselves into the business through a charity project. The business valued having our interns around and is excited to welcome the next cohort into the firm for Summer 2019. 

There have been many innovative projects and initiatives over the last 24 months here at Numis and I am personally very pleased to see the level of engagement in collaborative projects across the floor. We continue to focus on personal resilience and wellbeing and onsite clinics are now run every week including hysiotherapy treatment, massage, nutrition advice and much more. We also have bi-weekly Yoga or Pilates onsite in our auditorium, as well as a speaker series including prominent individuals from industry and sport talking to Numis employees about their personal journeys, advise on building a resilient career, sustaining inclusive teams, as well as leadership in times of change (amongst other topics). The relaunch  of our benefits offerings, giving employee’s access to over 18 different choices to select for their personalised package, as well as launching an online platform for benefits selection, has really enhanced the employee experience and we look to add to our current offering. 

 
I am constantly told by new starters how surprised they have been at the strength of our culture of collegiality, innovation and inclusivity. At Numis we really care about making sure we nurture that culture for the future and, as such, it is at the forefront of our minds in all we do, whether that be recruiting, designing training, right through to delivering the performance review process, and that is just the HR lens. This commitment feeds through to our very own interns; we care about making sure they feel like a member of the team from day 1, have their ideas listened to and are able to add value straight away.

We also believe in investing in quality training for them and giving them access to senior people from the start to grow and learn from.  I continue to be impressed to see the quality of talent we have across every team here at Numis and we continue to attract the best talent in the market. It is a fast-paced environment filled with astute, hardworking and driven individuals, but who are also very welcoming, collegiate and willing to make time to help you. A rare mix that I am extremely proud to be a part of.
